DESCRIPTION
Stunning woods, ancient farms and centuries-old chestnut trees.
This fascinating itinerary follows a stretch of the ethnographic path Path of the old crafts located on the left orographic side of the Cembra valley. The other segment of the trail winds along the right side of the valley, passing through the picturesque villages of Grauno and Grumes.
Recently created, the route aims to recover the ancient roads that for centuries have connected the various villages and hamlets in the area. Well maintained and signposted, it offers a pleasant and informative walking experience. However, it is important to point out a critical issue: a short stretch of path at the level of the Avisio stream can become unusable in the event of heavy or prolonged rain, when the water completely submerges the path.
Immersing yourself in this path means discovering the history and traditions of the Cembra valley, following in the footsteps of the old crafts that have shaped the local culture. An experience that not only enriches, but also invites you to explore and appreciate the uncontaminated beauty of the area.
ITINERARY
The itinerary starts from the center of the town of Sover (828 m) and, just outside the town, we take an easy road which soon becomes a path and leads us to the hamlet of Piscine (970 m). From here, you descend along a steep paved mule track. Along the way, you pass by the Castegnar de la Paia, a majestic four hundred year old chestnut tree, and a group of splendid ancient rural houses, the Maso Pianaci (670 m). You then cross the Vettori limestone, arriving at Castelìr (620 m), an old farm now in ruins on the banks of the Avisio stream.
At this point, the path continues on metal walkways anchored to the rock and then onto the Avisio riverbed. Unfortunately, we found the path covered by the Avisio and we had to return to Castelìr and then go directly back up to Sover.
