DESCRIPTION
For those who love high altitude trekking.
The itinerary that leads first to the Rifugio Tabaretta, then to the Rifugio Julius Payer and finally to the Punta Tabaretta will not leave disappointed those who are passionate about excursions to destinations above 3,000 meters of altitude. For this tour, and especially if you stop at the Rifugio Payer, it is enough to have a little training in the legs and not suffer from vertigo. Arriving at Payer and Punta Tabaretta the view is guaranteed, especially on the nearby Ortles.
ITINERARY
From the parking lot, take path no. 4 and go up to the Rifugio Tabaretta (2556 m). Continue on 4 and passing through the Forcella dell’Orso (2870 m) you arrive at the Rifugio Julius Payer (3029 m). Here you go up to Punta Tabaretta following the normal path to Ortles. Arriving at the carving on the west ridge of Punta Tabaretta itself, go up to the left following traces on debris. Once you reach Punta Tabaretta (3128 m), you return along the same path to the Rifugio Payer and the Rifugio Tabaretta. Here you go downhill on 4 for a while and then take 4A to reach Langenstein Hütte. Now all that remains is to return to the starting point along path 3.

For those wishing to save some energy, it is possible to take the Orso chairlift ski lift: there are about 500 meters less in altitude.

HOW TO ARRIVE
From Merano take the SS38 towards Passo di Resia. Once in Spondigna continue on the SS38 Strada del Passo dello Stelvio. In Località Gomagoi, turn left onto the SS622 until you reach Solda. Here follow the signs for the Orso chairlift.
