DESCRIPTION
Excursion both for nature lovers and historical and artistic beauties and for curious children.
The walk, which starting from the Coredo and Tavon lakes reaches the Sanctuary of San Romedio, is one of the most suggestive itineraries in the Val di Non.
The Sanctuary of San Romedio is one of the most interesting medieval religious complexes in Trentino. It is located in Val di Non, near the town of Sanzeno, on a 70-meter spur of rock. Here the hermit San Romedio lived and according to what the legend tells, he was in the company of a bear. That's why near the sanctuary you find a fence with a bear. The religious building consists of five small overlapping churches, all built on a spur of rock and joined together by a long staircase of 131 steps: at first glance it seems to see a Tibetan monastery. It is guarded by the friars of the Order of St. Francis of Assisi. Entry is free, if you want you can make an offer.
Returning to Lake Coredo you will find facilities to rest and for the smaller beautiful playgrounds.
