Ring excursion to the Colodri and Colt mountains

DESCRIPTION
Interesting trekking in the mountains north of Arco.
The circular excursion we propose starts from the parking lot of the hermitage of San Pietro, arrives in Arco, goes up to the Castle, goes up to Monte Colodri and Croce dei Colodri, goes up again on the ridge overlooking the Sarca Valley, reaches Monte Colt , then goes down to Ceniga and returns to the starting point. From the Croce dei Colodri you can admire a fantastic view of Arco up to Lake Garda. Following the path on the ridge you have a magnificent view of the Sarca Valley. The route can be done in all seasons as the maximum height is 434 m, except for abundant snow in winter. When you arrive at the Ceniga Cross you will have a nice view over Dro.

ITINERARY
From the parking lot (119 m) at the Hermitage of San Paolo, after visiting the religious building, take the paved road heading south and after about 3 km you will arrive in Arco. Here you take the path that goes up to the castle. From the castle you go down slightly and then go up on an asphalted road to the small church of Santa Maria di Laghel (220 m). Now take path 431 that leads to Mount Colodri and the homonymous cross (400 m). Go back slightly to resume path 431 which leads to the top of Mount Colt (434 m). Arriving at the mountain, descend to the Croce di Ceniga (390 m) and then, following a very steep path, you will arrive at the village of Ceniga near the Roman bridge. Here you take the very narrow asphalted road that leads to the starting point.

AUTHOR’S SUGGESTIONS
It is recommended to do the itinerary in spring or autumn. If you do this in the summer, bring plenty of water.

SAFETY TIPS
The ridge section is exposed and is not suitable for those suffering from vertigo.
The viability of the proposed itinerary, like all mountain morphology, is subject to environmental changes due to natural events and weather conditions. Therefore, before leaving, consult the competent tourist offices and / or the refuges of reference.

About 3 km from Arco: take Via Paolina Caproni Maini and continue on Via dei Legionari until you reach the parking lot of the Hermitage of San Paolo.
