DESCRIPTION
Easy cycle path that follows the waters of the Mincio river.
Part of the larger EV7 Sole Cycle Path, which connects the North Cape to Malta, the Mincio Cycle Path is one of the most beautiful paths in northern Italy. The modest differences in height and precise signs make it accessible to all, ideal for a day of healthy movement and fun in the open air. The cycle path is 45 km long and can be covered in about 4 hours.
This itinerary offers much more than a simple cycle route. Along the way, cyclists can explore small towns and villages with an old-world charm, rich in history and culture. A particularly fascinating place is the medieval village of Borghetto sul Mincio, perfect for a stop and lunch among the characteristic water mills. The route crosses the Mincio Natural Park, a vast protected area that extends from the river valley to Lake Garda up to the confluence with the Po. The landscape diversity, from the moraine hills to the plains, from the waterways to the Mantua lakes, it is home to a rich avian fauna, including storks, herons, hawks and black kites, making the cycle path perfect for birdwatching enthusiasts.
The cycle path follows the course of the Mincio river up to Pozzolo. From there, the route departs from the river and follows a canal to reach Mantua. A short stretch along Lago di Mezzo then leads to the Palazzo Ducale square, offering a spectacular entrance into the city.
In conclusion, cycling along the waters of the Mincio is an unmissable experience for those who love nature, history and outdoor excursions. This route is an invitation to discover and intensely experience the greenery of the Po Valley and the hidden treasures of its medieval villages.
